Biography

Dr. Kanai’s life time mission is to elucidate the information theoretic principles underlying consciousness . After graduating from Kyoto University, he obtained PhD (Cum Laude) on visual neuroscience at Utrecht University. After that, he engaged in research on consciousness at California Institute of Technology, and continued to study consciousness using brain stimulation and brain MRIs at UCL, United Kingdom. After working as an associate professor at the University of Sussex, his main focus is on the development of a Tokyo-based AI startup Araya Inc.
