Biography

Michael Spranger is researcher at Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc.. He is a roboticist by training with extensive research experience in fields such as shared autonomy between humans and robots, natural language interaction for robots and neural-symbolic reasoning and learning. Michael is also a Senior Research Scientist at the AI collaboration office of Sony Corporation where he leads research on AIxRoboticsxCooking as well as technologies related AI Ethics. His current focus is on expanding the creativity and skills of chefs using AI, knowledge extraction from images and text, and skill acquisition for cooking robots.

Description

"Will AI augment human creativity ?" We will have a discussion on this theme by introducing Sony's challenges on Music and Gastronomy. In the "AI x MUSIC" session, you will hear how "FlowMachines" - an AI assisted music composing system will augmente creativity, both from musician and engineer/reseearcher's point of view. Through the "AI x GASTRONOMY" session, chef and engineer/researcher will discuss from their point of view how "AI x Robotics" will augmente creativity in gastronomy field. Join us for first-hand insight into how AI and Robotics will augmente human ability rather than replacing them, and delivers brand new values through examples.
