Biography

Over more than 14 years as a reporter at Bloomberg Tokyo, Pavel has covered pretty much every corner of the technology industry in Japan. He has chronicled the wrenching restructuring and rebirth of Sony and Panasonic, tracked Nintendo’s rollercoaster ride from DS and Wii to Pokemon Go and explained how Line leveraged its Korean roots to build a messaging empire capable of fending off Facebook. Pavel was part of the Tokyo Electric special assignment team at Bloomberg that received SOPA Award for Excellence in Reporting Breaking News for its coverage of the events in 2011. He is fluent in Japanese and Russian, with a working knowledge of Python.Full-time tech journalist, part-time nerd.
