AI/SUM & TRAN/SUM with CEATEC 2020Pursuing Human-Centric Technologies

The basic concept of AI/SUM & TRAN/SUM with CEATEC 2020 is “Pursuing Human-Centric Technologies.” The COVID-19 pandemic has engulfed the entire world, not only threatening our health, but adversely affecting employment and other aspects of our economic life. We believe what is required under these circumstances is the development and spread of technologies that care more than ever for other people, other regions, and other countries and help the efforts of those trying to tackle various difficulties in life.

With the fast digitalization of society, information is transforming from something to cautiously “record and store” to something to “utilize and apply”.For security, fairness and efficiency, we are in urgent need for creating new rules for the use and application of data.

At the G20 in June 2019, Japan proposed the concept of DFFT(Data Free Flow with Trust) that would form the backbone of such rulemaking, and won agreement from the member countries. And the power of technology, such as artificial intelligence, IoT and blockchain will play an important role in making data application rules work with mobility and flexibility while assuring security.

New rules and technology combine to prompt innovation. For this process to work effectively in real business and social activity, and bring about sustainable development, all stakeholders involved in operating the rules need to cooperate earnestly, including governments, businesses, universities and consumers.

Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, 5G networks, blockchain, and other advanced technologies must be tapped to improve people’s quality of life and make our world better, in addition to opening ways for new products and services. This is what AI/SUM & TRAN/SUM with CEATEC pursues.
